It was yet another performance from Parvathy which shows how she excels her forerunners and contemporaries. Parvathy has shown excellent performance as the ‘cliché’ girlfriend who ran away from a rich boyfriend and as a non-so-familar European hippie girl. The factors which have saved it are the novel visuals and the performance of Prithvi-Parvathy combo.Įven when the film travels through the memories of Jay, the life of Thara and her daughter Hima, who was brought up in Portugal also becomes an integral part of it. Otherwise, the plot is just like a blown balloon. ![]() Though the dialogues are over poetic, they are beautifully written and apt for the situations. At times, we may even think that if it is ‘Titanic’ with a movie background. The script of Shankar Mahadevan reminds of Bollywood films. ![]() What makes the story interesting despite the familiar theme and predictable climax is the style of storytelling which combines two different stages in life. The movie progresses through blending the two stages of Jay as an actor who reached Lisbon for the shooting of his first movie and a lover who searches for his partner Thara after 20 years. Most parts of the movie are shot in Lisbon, the capital of European country Portugal. Parvathy becomes Thara in that flashback. The middle-aged man is reminiscing about his love during the beginning of his career. Prithviraj becomes the superstar Jay in a movie within the movie. The screen presence of Prithviraj-Parvathy combination after ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ has helped to make the chemistry work. However, the performance of Parvathy in double roles and wonderful sceneries of Europe make the movie interesting. But, the engaging first half storytelling is followed by a cliché flashback which made it an ordinary story. It is a love story portrayed on a colourful and unique canvas. ‘My Story’ is a movie which demonstrates the craft which is not of a debutant. Another female director with firm footsteps enters the Malayalam film industry, Roshni Dinaker. ![]()
